Leading the Way in Community Engagement

Welcome to the heart of Linden's literacy movement! Our annual Community Read-a-Thon is more than just an event; it's a celebration of families reading together, celebrating increased literacy scores, and a powerful gathering of neighbors, local organizations, and businesses. Discover how reading together strengthens children's literacy.
The purpose of the Readathon is to plant a love of reading in our children.
When families, local shops, and community organizations come together around a book, something magical happens. Our read-a-thon creates a ripple effect of benefits that extend far beyond the day of the Readathon. We are promoting the love of reading in our families' homes and the greater community.
For Our Children: Building Brighter Futures
Spark a Lifelong Love of Reading: We transform reading from a task into a treasured, fun-filled activity. Positive, community-wide events create joyful associations with books that last a lifetime.
Supercharge Vocabulary & Comprehension: Regular reading aloud exposes children to a richer world of words. Children will be exposed to 1.8 million more words per year by reading for 20 minutes per day.
The Read-a-Thon promotes a love of reading and connects it to the science of reading.

For Families & Community: Strengthening Bonds
Creates Unforgettable Family Memories around reading: We provide a structured opportunity to put down screens and share in the simple love of reading a story. We are strengthening parent-child bonds around literacy.
Build a Supportive Network: Families connect with like-minded parents, sharing tips and forming friendships centered on supporting their children's growth.
Unite Linden with a Shared Purpose: Local businesses sponsor, churches host, volunteers cheerlead, and libraries provide resources. Together, we send a powerful message: Linden, we love reading.
